Shelter Animals

Upon intake, each resident of the Rhode Island SPCA receives a comprehensive physical exam and any abnormal findings are addressed accordingly with medication or surgery*.

Cats

●     Rabies vaccine

●     FVRCP vaccine

●     Microchip

●     FELV/FIV test

●     Flea/Tick preventative

●     Deworming

●     Parasite screening

●     Blood Chemistry with CBC and thyroid for older cats (or if warranted by physical exam)

●     Spay/Neuter if needed

Dogs

●     Rabies vaccine

●     DA2PP vaccine

●     Microchip

●     Heartworm Test

●     Flea/Tick preventative

●     Deworming

●     Parasite screening

●     Blood Chemistry with CBC for older dogs (or if warranted by physical exam)

●     Spay/Neuter if needed

Rabbits

●     RHDV2 vaccine

●     Microchip

●     Flea/Tick preventative

●     Spay/Neuter if needed

Guinea Pigs

●     Flea/Tick preventative

Ferrets

●     Rabies vaccine

●     Distemper vaccine

●     Microchip

●     Flea/Tick preventative

*Surgical procedures performed if needed: oral assessment and treatment, cystotomy, mass removal, amputation, entropion, enucleation, perineal urethrostomy*
