Hello everyone!!
Just wanted to update everyone
about a new
organization
Rhode Island Large Animal Welfare - RILAW |
We have alot we would like to get accomplished.
Some of these goals will be met within
a
few months while others may takes years...
here are a few of our goals:
- Change the wording of exsisting laws or create
new laws in regard to large animal welfare.
These kinds of things will take time, effort
and patience. There will be letter writing,
research and petitions that will need to
be worked on. We all get upset when we see
a large animal in destress and wonder what
laws are out there to help protect these
animals in need. We will try and shed some
light on what laws are out there and what
we could possibly do to change them to help
the animals.
- Work on setting up a network of people willing
to foster large animals. We need a list
of people willing to let us use a stall,
run in shed, pastures etc... to help these
animals out of an unhealthy situation.
- Work on setting up a network of volunteers
to transport these animals out of
these situations.
- Foster care could be something that is implemented
right away once a set of standards
are established.
I know this seems like alot of
info
and I
know there are LOTS and LOTs of questions.
I would like to ask if you could email
your
questions to me at rivestadog@aol.com or post them on www.equinesite.com. What I will do is get the answers to those
questions and have them ready for
our first
meeting.
Our two main websites for info about RILAW
will be this website along with the www.RISPCA.com
Thanks
