Pumpkin and Niles

My husband and I adopted the two most beautiful cats in the beginning of January, 2010. Pumpkin was super shy in the beginning. I pegged her as the shy loner cat. Niles was very vocal and meowed for affection all the time. I pegged him as the attention seeker.

Flash forward a month and a half later- Pumpkin always sleeps in the middle of my husband and I and Niles is lying on top of my husband's stomach! Pumpkin is NOT shy! She is very social and outgoing and is not afraid to ask for attention. Niles is very vocal still and active. However, Pumpkin is more of an attention seeker! I didn't see that coming.

We are always together. One cat is always on one of our laps. My husband built a kitty scratching post/condo to keep our outgoing cats happy. We love our cats so much and are so grateful to have them in our lives. Our cats truly are a blessing. Thank you. We love our kids!

Snowball

Thought I'd send you an update on Snowball, the gorgeous DLH cat we adopted in September. After a somewhat rocky start (due to a nasty upper respiratory infection), she gradually recovered and learned the household routine.

She has declared herself the Alpha cat and settled in very nicely. She and our other cat spend the day in the normal cat manner: eating, napping, chasing the laser mice, napping, eating, chasing the various other interactive cat toys and sleeping. What a life!! She spends as much time as possible on any available lap, soaking up the adoration heaped upon her. We have several window seats and faux fur thermal core mats that she l-o-v-e-s to sleep on, especially in the cold weather. She particularly likes curling up in the top "bed" of the cat tree in our living room, where she can look upon her kingdom.

Now that her fur has mostly grown back in, she looks even more beautiful than when we adopted her!!

Last time we spoke, you suggested that I send you a few pictures of her, so you can include her story on your website. Here they are. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for all your help with her!!

Abbie

Abbie, a 4-year old female Bullmastiff, is loving her new home in East Greenwich. We kept her name because we like it so much! She's been awesome to have around and is certainly keeping us active these cool nights... Abbie needs her evening walks for sure!  She's settled right into a lazy lifestyle in our old farm house and is doing fine with managing the steep staircase. She parades around the old farmstead any chance she gets and is very obedient when we take her off the leash for some serious play time in the yard. She must have been with a great family before we got her because she's very, very well trained and has been such a great joy to have around.

Weighing in at a whopping 98 pounds, she had a full check up by our vet last week and she received a clean bill of health. Abbie has been introduced to all our family members and gets along with everyone - - especially her "cousin" Rufus, a 6 year old Boxer rescued by Brian's family a few years back. All of our nieces and nephews love her and she's welcome everywhere we go. Riding in the car appears to be one of her favorite things to do. We haven't met anyone that hasn't loved her at first sight!!

Thanks again for all the wonderful things you do for animals in need here in RI!

Kelso, who was renamed Lucas by his new family, watches for danger!

Dear RISPCA,

My wife and I adopted a kitten named Kelso from your shelter a little over a week ago. We have renamed him Lucas and we’re happy to say that he has adjusted to life in his new home extremely well. He enjoys playing with our adult male cat, Paco, as well as the various balls and mice we have scattered throughout the house. He is extremely lovable, friendly, energetic, and talkative.

Thank you!

Boomer gets in the holiday spirit

Sweet boy Boomer was featured on "Pick of the Litter" and it was love at first sight. The day he was adopted he jumped right into his new owner's vehicle and was ready to go! His Christmas card says "The Boomer is just fine and he is everything that you said he is. He is smart.......it took all of three days to train ME and a few more for my wife. Every two weeks he gets a bath - I put my bathing suit on and we climb in the tub.Well, he's at my feet right now."

Chiquita "Indy" - relaxing in her new home

Chiquita was so loved by the staff at our shelter that our cat playroom was nicknamed "Chiquita's Room." She also became a photo model thanks to her good looks and regal bearing. After being in our shelter for 4 months, she appeared on "Pick of the Litter" and was adopted 2 days later.
Charlie - The Mountain Climber

This young athlete is now in Downeast Maine and has become a daily walker. He's been in his new home about 2 months after a month long stay, and has made the peak of five separate mountains - some multiple times. That's quite a record as he's only 1 1/2 years old so we can only wonder what advetures he will have in his future.
