She is at Dr. Munafo's home for post - surgical care. She is doing as well as can be expected. 2/1/08: Cora is out of surgery and waking up from anesthesia. ![]() Cora is a 6 month old cat who was 1 of 13 taken from a hoarding case in Woonsocket. When the veterinary technician first examined her, she found an unusual vibration coming from Cora's chest. Further examination by ultrasound found a congenital heart defect. It's quite an unusual defect for a cat, according to the veterinary literature. Without corrective surgery, her life expectancy is only 6-7 months. Her only options are euthanasia or seeking medical help for an operation that will cost $1,500 - 4,000. Thanks to the efforts of Dr. Dominick Munafo, Ocean State Veterinary Hospital, the Marvin Fund, and concerned friends who are making donations toward cost of the operation.Cora will be operated on February 1. We'll keep you posted on her progress as she recovers. If all goes well, she will be available for adoption soon. Contributions toward expenses for her surgery can be made through the Marvin Fund. |
