Canine Vaccinations

REQUIRED
Rabies:
After the first vaccine, repeat in 1 year. After the second vaccine, repeat every 2 years. Rabies is contagious to other animals,
including humans, and is a fatal viral disease that attacks the nervous system.


STRONGLY RECOMMENDED ANNUAL VACCINES
DA2PP:
(Distemper -Adenovirus - Parainfluenza -Parvovirus)

Distemper is a viral disease commonly transmitted by contact with infected dogs or their environments. Flu-like symptoms are comon with disteper and in later stages the virus attacks the nervous system. Very difficult and expensive to treat. Fatal is untreated (#1 killer of unvaccinated dogs.)

Parainflueza is a viral infectious bronchitis also known as kennel cough which is easily transmitted through boarding, grooming, or in dog runs.

Parvovirus is a serious viral disease affecting the intestines, whiteblood cells, and heart. Fever, vomiting, dehydration, and severe diarrhea are associated with this disease. Very difficult and expensive to treat. Fatal if left un treated.

Bordetella:
Recommended for dogs that are boarded or kenneled as well as show dogs. Bordetella is a bacterial infectious bronchitis (causes severe kennel cough.) Symptoms in clude a runny nose and a dry hacking cough (the dog sounds like it is trying to get something out of its throat.) Kennel cough often goes away on its own, but secondary infections such as pneumonia can be treated with antibiotics.
